ABOUT COLIN TIE

Colin was born in the Black Country, West Midlands, from very humble beginning from working in various factories after leaving School, and then in a foundry…where Colin’s interest for magic and entertainment was born. Whilst working close to 60 hours a week, Colin performed his first gig, performing close up magic at the mount hotel, Wolverhampton. Colin performed paid gigs on the weekend, and performed for a lot for charity to gain experience, after nearly 2 years of working 6 days a week, plus gigs, Colin struggled to obtain a healthy balance juggling his workload, social life, so decided to move to Minehead, Somerset, and did a full season for Butlins . Colin worked many jobs, from a cleaner, glass collector, funfair operator to getting paid to perform close-up magic in the restaurants, and for the Butlin’s guests. After the season, Colin returned to the Black Country to work as a support worker, then landed a job that he loved….a teacher assistant supporting students with special needs. He loved this from supporting small groups to one to one support, although this gave Colin joy, he realised that the most direct way of making someone happy was to make them laugh…5 months after Colin accepted a job as an entertainer in Cornwall.

They realised Colin wasn’t suited to the musical productions, with fast paced dancing etc….but they learned very quickly that Colin had a very natural comedic timing and excellent PR skills, and combined with the magic. So they sent him to a holiday camp based in North Devon called Sandaway for John Fowler Holidays, they gave him a chance to create his own cabaret show…although he only had 3 days to string something together, most of the act consisted of close-up magic, things made of cardboard boxes and a few musical songs that Colin had picked up from the training. Colin’s cabaret act become better and better, and after 2/3 months received loads of positive feedback from thousands of customers. Colin also made Bingo a bit different and did impersonation of different celebrities in-between calling the numbers, also was a quiz master, game show host, and did all the party dancing (mostly wrong, but he tried)

Colin learned the hard way after working 6 seasons away, Cornwall, Devon, Somerset and Kent. Colin worked as an entertainments manager for 4 of those seasons. After 22 years of experience, Colin has performed for top companies, celebrities, theatres, comedy clubs and private functions. He still performs at the occasional house party, but mainly taking booking for theatres, weddings, comedy clubs and cruise ships.

In 2017 Colin performed his childrens/family show on the armorique ship for brittany ferries, Colins entertainments manager happen to be a guy full of wisdom called rod hammand who was also a consultant on the Dynamo show Rod gave Colin advice on his show and improved it for the better.

This wonderful lady missed the show by a few minutes so Colin performed a personal mini cabaret show for her in which she seemed to appriciate. Its moments like this that make colin standout from the crowd

Colin has performed his carabet show to the chief of police, wiltons music hall in London, Social Services, Birmingham and Samwell council, Butlins, John Fowler Holidays, Park Holidays, Virgin, Barclays, Brittany Ferries and P&O Ferries, Private Parties, Comedy Clubs and More…

His Cabaret show is visual, funny, sarcastic, fun and will give the audience members a show to remember.

I have had the pleasure to work with Mr Colomondo on several occasions on board Brittany Ferries, where he entertained our family passengers on the crossings with his magic shows. Having seen many magicians and children’s entertainers myself, I can say that Mr Colomondo is the funniest and one of my favourites to work with, both on and off stage. Not only did he manage to keep the smallest of audiences entertained during the quieter periods, but he also entertained and performed his full act for an audience of french children, who didn’t understand a  word of english, and made them giggle like I’ve never seen before. Only a true entertainer can do that! If I am looking for a magician or asked to make a recommendation, Mr Colomondo is defiantly on my list.

Colin finished his last show with us on Monday evening. His presence onboard in the family lounge has been a fantastic addition to the onboard experience.

COLIN TIGHE IN THE ART OF CLOSE-UP MAGIC

Colin has 22 years experience in the art of close-up magic. His close-up magic and comical style is perfect for weddings, top restaurants, corporate events and private parties. It’s Colin’s comedy timing and improvisational skills that really set him apart from most other entertainers, he doesn’t take himself too seriously and he truly believes if he can amaze you and make you laugh sometimes at the same time….this is the key to excellent entertainment!

He has performed for the V.I.P lounge in London for Virgin, and even booked to perform mix and mingle/close-up magic on their trains whilst in motion to surprise customers and give them an experience they won’t forget. He has also performed close-up magic in the main Barclays building in Canary Wharf, London, to entertain the staff and visors whilst they were waiting to order coffee….Colin made a playing card magically change into a coffee voucher so they could get free coffee! Although Colin is a natural comedian don’t let this mislead you…Colin is a slight of hand artist. Once booked for a mini-cruise ship whilst working, Colin made a signed card appear on the other side of a window in real time with no camera tricks!
